COCONUT SCRAPER OR SPOON, MAILU ISLAND

This scraper was used by women to split the coconut and rub along the edge to shred the meat. It is placed in and old box and has a small paper with the following text:
“Coconut scraper and spoon made from Pearl Shell
Artist of barter of Mailu, New Guinea”
