A CASUARINA COAST CEREMONIAL SAGO FOOD BOWL

Asmat bowls are made of softwood or bark in the shape of a leaf sheaths of the sago palm or a large leaf. Bowls made of solid soft wood are manufactured only in Central Asmat, the Casuarina coast to the south, and in Northwestern Asmat.

This bowl has a blackened old patina and old traces of use. In the inside white traces of the Sago food.
