A SUPE CLUB, MALAITA, SOLOMON ISLANDS

This grand old Supe club is the product of two superb craftsmen. The first made the club using pre-metal tools and if you look closely you can see the wavey original wooden cross does not have a straight line on it. A second later generation carver has inlaid nautilus shell when the club was no longer a weapon of war but a prestige item passed down the generations. One side presents perfectly but the other shows slight damage to the corners.
