A SHELL BREAST ORNAMENT
A breast ornament of the Mendi people, Highlands, Papua New Guinea. This big Bailer shell is worn by the "great men" initiated at the ceremonies of the Moka. Women can also wear it during Sing Sing dance. These ornaments also serve as a gift to the bride but also money of payment after a war or quarrel.
