Surrealism at Tribal Design
After WW I European artists looked for new inspiration. With André Breton as guide, many artists discovered, through dealers as Charles Ratton, non-European art as a new way to look at form and visual language. As a tribute to this important development, Tribal Design will show from 28th of September till the 10th of November tribal objects with extreme visual power, like a couple of Baining masks and ornaments, and a very rare Amazon fiber mask. This in combination with the photography of Agniet Snoep.
The exhibition is on show as from now, but opens officially on Saturday 28th of September during the Amsterdam Art & Antiques Weekend of the Spiegelkwartier on 28th and 29th of September.
